Tusheti – Khevsureti

Most exotic and interesting mountainous provinces of Khevsureti and Tusheti are situated in the Eastern Georgia on the Northern mountainsides of the Caucasus.These two spots of Georgia are distinguished by their Alpine vivid and picturesque nature and interesting ethnographic features.
Over the last decades as a result of political cataclysms and "civilization dominance”, the population of these regions has decreased by far. Most settlements have been totally deserted; province abandonment and its economic recession have caused its isolation from the outer world what was followed by preservation of primeval nature.
One may frequently find historical structures and settlements here where the civilization is not dominant so far: (no motor roads and power supply) while the population still lives in medieval conditions observing ancient traditions and customs.
You may come across archeological remains of 30-40 centuries B.C. still to be discovered and investigated, the so-called Mtkvar-Araks culture. You may find before Christ enciphered stone-carved symbols here the patterns of which are similar to those of Etruscan and Asia Minor ancient civilizations, which had been embedded into walls of medieval towers. They represent relics left over by ancestors.
In the course of the stay in the medieval towers one may enjoy not only the hospitality of Tusheti and Khevsureti people but also one will experience the peculiarities of ancient traditions and the attraction of nature and cultural heritage.

TBILISI-TUSHETI-KAZBEGI

1 Day.
When you arrive in Tbilisi we will meet you in airoport and transfer to Kazbegi.

2 Day. Morning we will drive along the river Aragvi Valley and Georgian Military Highway to Kazbegi town, situated on the South slopes of the Caucasion Main Range. On the road stop over at Ananuri architectural complex. Arrive Kazbegi 1700 m. Explore the area and walk up to Gergeti Sameba Church, beautifully situated on the hill.Views of the Caucasion Mountains, including Mount Kazbeg, 5047 m, one of the six 5000 m. peaks in the Caucasus.According to the legend. Prometheus was chained on the mount Kazbeg.Drive to Gudauri resort 2100m. Free time to relax or walk in the area.(possible hourse raiding). Night at a 3* star hotel "Shelle”.

3 Day.
Drive to town Gori, a historical town. Visit Stalin’s museum. After we cross the city to view the central square of the town, where a big monument of Stalin till commands the area. Drive to Uplistsike cave town.Here we find a big hall for pagan rituals and some living rooms as well as a church of the 9 century.We continue to Telavi. Night in guest house in Telavi.

4 Day.
In the morning we will drive to village Omalo, 2000m, Tusheti Province by crossing the Abano Pass 2950m.
Daily treks to the Jvarboseli and cross one mountain pass. We enjoy amazing Caucasion Landscapes surrounded by 4000m. summits and discover anclient cultures of the local people.

Drive to Tbilisi. Exploring the wine growing region of Kakheti. On the road visit Kvareli, visiting a factory and tasting of wine "Kindzmarauli Marani”, Tsinandali, Signagi,David Gareji Monastery-complex.

Tbilisi full day city tour. Visit to the ancient Georgian capital Mtskheta, near Tbilisi,visit to Svetitskhoveli, Cathedral and Jvari Monastery.Museum ‘The state museum of folk and applied arts of Georgia”.
